Close Talker
Close Talker, the celebrated indie-rock quartet from Saskatoon recently announced their second full-length album, Flux, to be released on November 4 via Nevado Music (Royal Canoe, Jordan Klassen). Having just wrapped tour across Germany followed by select Canadian shows supporting Royal Canoe, Close Talker announce a North American headline tour starting tonight in Kamloops, BC and running through to December. The band will also embark on their first ever USA tour, making major market stops in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle along the way. All dates are noted below.

The band's new album, Flux was recorded this spring, over three weeks at Montreal's Breakglass Studio with Jace Lasek (Land Of Talk, Suuns, Young Galaxy), while the Montreal Canadiens were in the middle their playoff bid and the city was vibrant with energy. "Jace was kind enough to let us stay at the studio, use the kitchen, sleep on the couches and work on things after hours," says bass player Jeremy Olson. "This was pretty crucial, as it let us come up with sounds and ideas for things that had been sort of missing from a few of the songs. He knew how to achieve sounds that we only had in our heads, helped us with ideas and vision if we got stuck."

Spin Magazine recently streamed Flux lead track, Burnstick, declaring that the band "pair(s) their rigid yet sanguine melodies with achingly euphoric lyricism." Exclaim noted of the track, "the song pairs peppy drums with spacious keyboard tones and reverb-drenched guitar shimmers." Interview Magazine featured the band online and new album track Heads was premiered by US site, All Things Go Music and recently serviced to radio in Canada. Watch and share the video for Heads here:

Formed in Saskatoon in early 2012 Close Talker: Will Quiring (vocals, guitar), Matthew Kopperud (guitar, vocals), Jeremy Olson (vocals, bass), and Chris Morien (vocals, drums) produced an independently released gem of a debut with Timbers in 2013 that was widely revered for its "edgy vocals and gentle piano lines and orchestral ambition." The band went on to become finalists in the national CBC Searchlight competition for Canada's Best New Artist. They subsequently received substantial airplay across the nation, including spins on CBC R2's The Drive. Their single, The West Was Won spent seven weeks in the top 10 of CBC R3's chart.
